The workshop will begin with a presentation on the role of games in history, with a special focus on the game of Ur, the first game ever found dating back over 4000 years. Through stories and images, the children will see how games have always accompanied man, encouraging strategic thinking and socialisation. Afterwards, the children will set to work and, using natural materials, will make a shared reproduction of the Ur game to leave in the classroom and a personal spinning top, which can be taken home, another ancient game that has entertained generations of children in more modern times.
The children will not only develop creativity and manual skills, but also understand the importance of play in human culture and society throughout the millennia.
