workshop: the mountain enters the classroom

The day began with the reading of the fable ”Setto Settefante e lo scherzetto dell’inverno”, written to explain to children the use of snowshoes in the snow.

After the story we began the hands-on lesson on the construction of these amazing tools, through primitive practices of knots and weaving, building them together with the children using only natural elements. At the end of the day each child was able to make their own snowshoes, which would be used during the January 30 mountain trip to Pragelato.

The purpose of the entire project was to introduce children to and appreciate the mountainous area of Piedmont through a day of sports and cultural activities by giving them a chance to appreciate the activities and traditions of new places.
